Sold To The Gypsies?

Wilbur has some news for his clock.
Have you ever thought about how a clock feels? One way to find out is to talk to a clock.

While Wilbur and the clock have a little chat, the clock's mind begins to drift.
"When children misbehave, a frustrated parent might threaten to sell the munchkin, um … ankle biter, uh … child … to the gypsies."
Clocks fret about being sent to a home where they might be neglected — such as if they are carted off by a band of gypsies. Oh, my! That would be a frightening experience for a child … and a clock too.

Grandfather Clock knows Wilbur sometimes sells the clocks after he makes them … or repairs ones he finds which were in need of some attention.

This clock is concerned he will be sold to a home which is not as suitable for him. What could be worse than being sold to the gypsies?

Gypsies live in caravans. When their horses pull the caravans along roads or across fields, it jostles everything inside the caravan. This is very painful for clocks. If the temperature swings from hot to cold with the outside weather, something could go wrong with the clock. If it rains, the joints of the clock swell. When it gets really dry, the clocks wood might split.

So, Grandfather Clock really hopes he is never sold to the gypsies.
